However,inWarsaw,despitethedecidedlypro-Russianmood,
therewereformedorganizations,conceivedasasecretarmedforce,
functioningontherearofthetsaristarmy.Beforethebeginningof
thewar,inWarsawtherewascreatedtheUnionofActiveStruggle,
headedbyHenrykKrok-PaszkowskiandthePolishRifleSquadsunder
thecommandofKarolRybasiewicz.However,thebeginningofthe
FirstWorldWarwasunexpectedforthemembersoftheUnionof
ActiveStruggle,aswellasforBogusławMiedziński,whoremained
inMiastków.Itisclearlyprovedbythefactthatalmostallthesenior
commandingstaffwasparticipatinginofficecourse,takingplacein
KrakowOleanders.Thesituationbegantonormalizeonlywiththe
arrivalofRybasiewicztoWarsawandwiththearrivalofadjutantof
HeadquartersofRiflemen’sAssociationofRussianmattesAdamKoc
fromhissummervacationsinLithuania.Atthemeeting,heldduring
thefirstweekofAugust1914,itwasdecidedtojointheUnionofActive
StruggleandthePolishRifleSquadsandtomakeoneorganization
PolishMilitaryOrganization.Rybasiewiczwaselectedthecommander,
Kocbecamehisdeputy,andAleksanderTomaszewskiwasappointedto
thepositionofchiefofstaff16.
Obviously,atthattime,theuncertaintyofsituationmadeBogusław
MiedzińskiinterrupthispassivewaitinginMiastkówandbeginto
searchsomecontactsinWarsaw.Afterthetelephoneconversation
withAdamKoc,accordingtohispersonalmemoirs,hewasinvited
tothesecretapartment,wherehewasenthusiasticallymetbyKoc,
Rybasiewiczandtwomorepersons,whomhedidnotknowatthattime.
Acompletesurpriseforhimwasthefactthatthegatheredconfused
