thetsaristservices.Althoughhenevermentioned,itcanbepresumed
thatinsuchawayhecarriedoutintelligenceactivities21.
AccordingtoMiedziński’smemoirs,inaboutamonthhereceivedan
invitationtoWarsawtoreportabouthisactivity.Theorderindicated
thatCommanderinChiefTadeuszŻulińskiwastobetherecipientof
thereport.Żulińskiwasevenmoresurprisedwheninthecommander
ofSiedlcePolishMilitaryOrganization,hidingunderthepseudonym
AndrzejŚwitek,herecognizedBogusławMiedziński,whomheknew
sinceLvovtimesforhisinsubordinationandrakishlifestyle.The
commanderinchiefneededaseveralhourscnversaitontobelievein
thatconsiderableimprovement,whichheobtainedwithgreatdifficulty.
Nevertheless,ashelaterrecalled,theconfidenceofŻulińskiinhim
hadagreatinfluenceonhisfurtherlife22.
ThenextmeetingwithŻulińskitookplaceinDecember1914.
Miedzińskiwasinvitedfor,asitseemedanordinarymeetingwiththe
participationofotherdistrictcommanders.However,amoreimportant
thanthegeneralmeeting,washisfacetofacetalkwithŻuliński,at
whichheproposedMiedzińskitoparticipateinoneofthegreatest
operationsofthePolishAircraft,theaimofwhichwastooccupy
Lubartów.Theoperation,whichhasbeenpreparedforthewholemonth
andwasplannedforFebruary11,1915,wascancelledinthelastmoment,
whenitturnedoutthatoneofthecommanders–JanBielawski,not
withstandingnervously,addedcouragewiththehelpofalcohol.For
Miedziński,Lubartówoperationhadtwoaspects.First,hemetMarian
Kościałkowski,underthepseudonymuOrwid”,withwhomhebecame
closefriends,andthisfriendshiplastedformorethantwentyyears.
Moreover,excellentbehaviourofMiedzińskiresultedthatŻuliński,
whotillthattimetreatedhimwithcaution,nowbestowedhimwith
