emiesofmusichadtoface–asacounterbalanceandopposition–youthstu-

dentorganizationsforwhichstudentself-governance–intermsoftheorganiza-

tionofstudentlife,rightsandsocialhelp–wasapriority.

Educationalidealsafter1945

Thesecondsourceofthepurposesofmusiceducationinthetwentiethcen-

turyweretheidealsofeducation,whichbegantoemergein1948.Theywere

characterisedbypoliticalcontentoftheproposalswhichwereoftenguidelines

forideologicalactionsofthePolishUnitedWorkers!PartyfoundedinDecember

1948.Theexceptionwastheperiodfrom1945to1948,whentheMinistryofEd-

ucationdeclaredadesiretobuildademocraticandnationalschoolwiththecon-

tentofeducationalideals17.Infact,duringthisperiodmusicschoolsweresup-

posedto,interalia,educateanewtypeofpeople18whowouldbededicatedto

theideaofcommunistcreationandperceptionofart.

Between1956and1964–thethirdsourceofthepurposesofeducationin

thetwentiethcentury–duetotheeducationalidealsintheSecondPolishRe-

public,themodelofmusiceducationevolvedintoinvolvingstudentsincom-

petingintheartisticfield,solidityaswellasappreciatingtheuniversalvaluesof

theworldwideart.However,inthelongterm,thenewsocialisteducationalide-
