Europeansocialmodel,etc.
IntheworkontheReformTreatytheproblemsoftheinternalmarketwere
animportantareaofdiscussion.Itwasgenerallyacknowledgedthattheprocess
ofits"formation”hadnotbeenconcluded.NotonlymusttheEUfacethechal-
lengesofglobalisation,butitalsomusttakeanactivepartinthem,becoming
thekeyplayerintheworldeconomy.Takingtheliberalizationofbusinessfur-
therinmanysectorsoftheEuropeaneconomy(services,networksectors)
shouldproceedinlinewithformingtheEuropeansocialmodel.Raisingmarket
effectivenessandtheefficiencyofeconomyshouldbecombinedwithcreating
creativesolutionsonthelabourmarketandensuringthenecessarystability
therein.
Inthediscussionsontheinternalmarket,thenotionof"theEUinternal
market”isanimportantissue(fromthecognitivepointofview).Thebody
ofthispaperwillfocusonthisproblemandthedirectionsofitsdevelopment.
2.TheconceptoftheEUinternalmarketmethodological
aspectsoftheproblem
TheReformTreatybroughtaboutchangesinallthreepillarsoftheEU;the
internalmarket,CommonForeignandSecurityPolicy,andCommonInternal
andJudiciaryPolicy.Preliminaryanalysisoftheproblemcallsforareflexion
onthedefinitionsof"theinternalmarket”,"uniformmarket”andtheirrelation
toparallelconcepts:"commonmarket”and"euromarket”.Thedefinition
ofeachtermandcategoryisimportantfromthecognitivepointofviewitalso
bringsimportantimplicationsdefiningtheareaofstudyandempiricalresearch.
TheEUinternalmarkethasbeenidentifiedandanalysedinanumber
ofways.Itisquitecommontosubstitute"theEUinternalmarket”with
"thecommonmarket”,aswellaswith"theuniformmarket”and"European
spatialmarket”.However,thoseconceptsarenotsynonymous,andyetthey
havebeenappliedindiscriminatelybothintreaties,executiveactsandinwrit-
ingsonthatsubject.Eachofthesetermscarriesaslightlydifferentdenotation;
henceitmay(anditoftendoes)giveadifferentperspectivetothearea
andsubjectoftheanalysis.
