fromthemother’sdifcultsituationandendingwithherwillassuch.
Instead,ifwetreatthechildasthehumanbeingtobereceivedwith
acceptance,thewoman’spersonalfulfillmentwouldinvolvethebestcare
forthechild,forherself,andfortheirmutualrelationratherthanthe
choiceofabortionaskillingthebaby
,destroyingtherelation,anddoing
harmtothewomanherself.MarzenaSzczepkowskarightlypointedout
inherarticlethatpro-lifeactivitiesareusuallysetoppositetothewom-
en’srightsattitudes.Inheropinion,theseissuesshouldnotbeseenas
opposedbutstronglylinkedtogetherbecausewhatrequirestheproper
careistherelationofmotherandchild.One-sidedfightforchildren’s
rightstolifewiththelackofcareforthewoman’ssituationorone-sided
concentrationonthewoman’srightswithouttheconcernforthelifeof
thechildisbadforbothsides,whiletheproperconcernforwomanmay
securethechild’ssafetyandallowtherelationtobewellprotected.17
Theperspectiveofnoticingtheimportanceofrelationisbasedonthe
conceptofanti-individualisticfreedomwhichfindsitsfullrealizationin
loveasrelatingpersonsaccordingtotheirwillbutalsoinvolvinglong-
-lastingcommitmentsanddutiesbeyondthechangeofone’swill.Aper-
sonistreatedasuniqueinone’sdignitybutrelatedtoothersandfinding
one’sdevelopmentintheserelations.Whiletheindividualisticconceptof
freedommayassumeindependencefromrelationsintermsofone’sful-
fillment(freedomfrombeingforcedtorelationsorfreedomfrombeing
dependentonrelations),thepersonalisticmodelisbasedontheconcept
offreedomasfindingitsgoalinlove(freedomtobeingrelatedtoothers
inadeepsenseoftheword).JohnPaulIIidentifiedtheessenceoflovein
relatednesswhichatfirstseemsaslimitingone’sfreedom,butonadeeper
levelshowsitselftobeconnectedwiththematurekindoffreedom.Inhis
homilygiveninJasnaGóraduringthefirstpilgrimagetoPolandin1979
heclaimedthatsuchanexampleoffreedomasfulfilledinloveisclearly
shownintheexperienceofmotherstakingcareofasickchildwhose
careisnottreatedaslimitationbutasafrmationofliberty
.

understandingoffreedombythewholehumanitybutinordertomakeit
understandableandpersuasive,thehumanityneedstoseriouslytakeinto
