Aparadigmofsocialaccept-
anceofahumanbeingisinthewoman’sacceptanceofherchildevident
inthephysical,bodilyrelationbetweenamotherandherchild.
Man’sparticipationinthecreationofanewhumanbeingdoesnot
involvehisbodyasmuchasitinvolvesthebodyofawoman.Thewoman
acceptsthesexualactaswellasitsfruitinsideherbody
,soheropen-
nesstothenewhumanbeing(boththemanandthechild)isliteraland
expressedbodily
.Whatismore,thechildisbeingaccepteduncondition-
allyasheorsheiscompletelyunknownasconcernshisorherqualities.
Thoughthefathershouldalsoacceptthechildthisway
,yethedoesnot
literallymakespaceforthechildinhisbody
,sothemother’sacceptance
doesseemtoconstitutetheliteralparadigmoftotalreceptivityandinclu-
sion.Nowonderthenwhyitisthemotherwhoinasenseteachesthe
manhowtofulfilhispaternalrole.Furthermore,itcanbeclaimedthat
bothparentscanthroughthisprocessofparentingteachtherestofsoci-
etyhowtotreateachnewhumanbeingandallhumanbeingsforthat
matter,too.Merehumanityinapersonisthusrecognizedtobeworthy
ofsocialacceptance,respect,andcare.
Moreover,theparentalacceptanceofachild,physicallyembodiedin
theearlymaternalexperienceofpregnancy
,providesaperfectsolutionof
theimaginedliberalproblemoftheassumedpossibleconflictbetween
freedomofthemotherandfreedomofthechild,andanequallystrongly
