Wemaythussaythateverychildremindsthesocietythattheworld

itself,includinghumansandlifeitself,isfundamentallygiven.Inthe

wordsofJohnPaulIIwecanﬁndanexampleofsimilarexpressionofthe

giftedcharacterofspousalandparentallove:“Ingivingorigintoanew

life,parentsrecognizethatthechild,“asthefruitoftheirmutualgiftof

love,is,inturn,agiftforbothofthem,agiftwhichﬂowsfromthem.”9

Connectedwiththefactofourgiftednatureistheconsequenceofthe

Societybroadlyunderstoodthusseemstobetheagentconsidering

itselflegitimatetoplanandproducechildrenaccordingtoitsdesign,

whilethetraditionallyunderstoodautonomyanddignityofachildmay

notbeprotected,ifsuchanoutlookgetssocialacceptance.Asimilaratti-

tudetowardschildrenisvisiblealreadyincasesofinvitrofertilization:

possibleparentsclaimittobetheirrighttohaveandproduceachild

withouttheregardforthelimitsofnaturewhichinthiscaseprotect

thechildrenfrommanipulatingonthembyartiﬁcialmeans.Oneofthe
