ethosofPolishintelligenceservices.

butitdoesnotconstitutehisbiographyinitself.Tebiographyisonly
acontributiontotheexplorationofanother,nolessfascinatingdiscovery-
theanalyticaloutputof“Maracz”
.Itiscontainedinpublishedarticlesaswell
astextsthathaveneverbeenpublishedbefore:typescriptsandmanuscripts,
notesforlecturesandnotesintheformofpreservedfragmentsofhisdiary.

andprofessionalexperiencesofapersonwhofacedthemostimportant
internationalsecurityproblemsofhiseraonadailybasis.Fromaformalpoint
ofview,however,Chodacki)swritingsshouldnotbetreatedasscientific,as
theydonotexhibitwritingtechniquessuchasproperquotations,bibliography,
theories,descriptionofmethodology,etc.Aferall,Chodackididnothave
aformalhighereducation,eventhoughhewasagraduateofthepre-Second
WorldWarHigherWarSchool[Pol.:WyższaSzkołaWojenna].Itisclearthat
hisviewsareembeddedinthepoliticalprogram,whichinmostgeneralterms
canbedescribedasthePiłsudskischoolofthought.
Chodacki)stexts,whichisworthemphasizing,arefullofhisintelligence
anddiplomaticexperience.Itisherethattheexceptionalclarityofhis
argumentation,intelligenceandtheabilitytogeneralizeconclusionscanbe
found.Tankstothis,thoughtsonspecificissuesgainuniversalvalue.One
canevensay,atleastfromthePolishperspective,that“Maracz”analyzedthe
mostimportantcasestudiesofinternationalpoliticsofhisera.Teyconcern
thepoliticsoftwototalitarianpoliticalsystemsthatshapedthetragicface
ofthefirsthalfofthe20thcentury,thepoliticsofPolandandafascinating
exampleofinternationallaw-thatoftheFreeCityofGdańsk(Danzig).All
