onlyhisexperiences,butalsohisfamilyhistorysincethe18thcentury.Wegot
toknowaboutmanyeventsfromOrłowski)sfascinatinglife.
HewasborninFrancein1914,graduatedfromtheCadetSchoolofthe
CavalryReserveinGrudziądz[Pol.:SzkołaPodchorążychRezerwyKawalerii
wGrudziądzu]in1932andtookpartintheSpanishCivilWaronthesideof
GeneralFranco.AttheoutbreakofSecondWorldWar,OrłowskiwasinFrance,
whereheimmediatelyvolunteeredformilitaryservice.HewassenttoGreat
Britain,andfromtheretoSpainandPortugal,whereheledtheevacuation
ofPolishofcerstotheBritishIsles.In1944,hetookupajobinthePolish
MissioninArgentina,inthemilitaryattachesection.Again,notawordabout
thefactthathewastheheadofthe“Salvador”intelligencestationoperating
inArgentina,Paraguay,UruguayandChile.Teabilitytoliveintheshadows
fordecadesafertheendofhisintelligencework,evenwhentherealities
aroundhimhavechangedandthehostileempirehascollapsed,isoneofthe
advantagesthatdistinguishthemostoutstandingintelligenceofcers.
TeimportanceofthearchivessavedbyChodackiisillustratedbyafragment
ofthethanksthatGen.WincentyKowalskisubmittedtoSisterMedard,the
ProvincialSuperioroftheSistersofNazarethatthetime:
