permittingarchaeologicalandarchitecturalstudiestobecom-

Thesouthernporticoandpubliclatrineweretheobjectsof
restorationworkintheBaths.Stoneelementsandvoussoir
stonesofthevaultcoveringthestoreroomslocatedinfrontof
hypocaustfurnaceno.3werepreparedforreassemblyinthe
comingseason.Additionalclearingandsafeguardingoperations
werealsocarriedout.Inthelatrine,inordertoproceedwiththe
plannedanastylosisoftheperistyle,onecolumnbasewasre-
constructedinartificialstone.

Aconsiderablepartoftheeasternfacadeofthemonument,
comprisingsome80m

betweenbuttressesIIIandIV
,wasre-
constructed(Fig.3).BetweenbuttressesIIandIII,workbegun
ontherestorationofyetanothersectionofthewallandsome

werecompletedbytheseason'send.Thenewfacingwas
separatedfromtheoriginalsectionsofthewallbyalayeroftar
paper.
Thenorthernmostbuttress(I)wasremodeledtoreachits
finalrestoredshape.Thewallcopingofthebuttresswasprovid-
