HouseG.Theeasternpartofthehousecollapsedsometime
inthe7thcenturyADand,unlikethewesternwing,itwasappar-
entlyabandonedandneverreoccupied.Apartitionwallwas
builtacrossthelargeroomG-9,separatingthedestroyedpart
fromtherestofthehouse.Thisdisastermusthaveoccurredin
thefirsthalfofthe7thcenturyassuggestedbymaterialretriev-
edfromfairlyhomogenousandundisturbedfill.Thesewere
examplesoflocallymadeRedSlipwares,importedamphoraeof
theLRA1andLRA2classes,somewelldatableformsofCyp-
riotRedSlipware,Byzantinelampsandcoins.Remainsofsmall
industrialinstallationswereclearedinthespaciouslocusG-9.
Theyconsistedofasmall,rectangular,stone-casedbox,anda
waterchannelofangularsectionrunningnorthwardandempty-
ingintoasewagechannellocatedbeneaththenarrowlanesepa-
ratinghousesGandH.Althoughnoremainsofaglasskiln
wereidentifiedandtheprecisefunctionofthisfacilityremains
unclear,thereislittledoubtthattheroomservedasaglasswork-
shopasevidencedbynumerousfindsofglassslag,semi-pro-
ductsandmoulds.Theaccompanyingfindsconsistedmostlyof
potteryindicatingthattheworkshopwasusedmostprobably
inthe6thcenturyAD.
Theunderlyinglayerswerecomposedmostlyofleveling
material,containingfragmentsofpolychromeplasterandbadly
damagedelementsofarchitecturaldecoration.Itwasapparently
depositedasaresultofdestructionandsubsequentdismantling
ofEarlyRomanstructurespredatingthekilns.
Theselayersturnedouttobeparticularlyrichinfinds:apart
fromnumerouspotteryfragmentsincludingterrasigillatawares,
therewerealsolampsandcoinsprovidinganapproximate
terminuspostquemdateinthesecondhalfofthe2ndcenturyAD.
