TechnicalexaminationsofbothpaintingswerecarriedoutinCracow25andinWar-
saw26.ExperienceresultingfromtheconservationtreatmentofRembrandt’sLandscape
withtheMercifulSamaritanfromtheCzartoryskiMuseuminCracowwashelpfulto
theWarsawconservationproject,asdidthesupportfromMartinBijl,arestorerofRem-
brandt’spaintings,acollaboratoroftheRembrandtResearchProjectandformerHead
oftheConservationDepartmentattheRijksmuseum.Aninterpretationofthetechnical
