beenabletogeneratethepersonalistmovementandplaceitatthe
centeroftheEuropeanthought.However,asRicoeurkeenlyde-
tected,Mounier’spositionwastheoreticallyweakandtherefore,
itcouldnotsurvive.Hesuccumbedtothe“battleoftheconcept”
and,therefore,althoughMounier’sworkisstillofgreatimpor-
tance,thereisnonewphilosophicalproductionthatfollowshis
thought.Tispath,inotherwords,isaclosedpaththatcanonly
looktothepast.
Tereis,however,thethirdpossibility,whichistheoneIpro-
posedinthisbook.Itistounderstandpersonalismasthegroup
ofphilosophersofthe20thcenturywho,inadditiontofocus-
ingtheiranthropologyonthenotionofperson,havedeveloped
itaroundasetofcommonthemes:interpersonality,primacyof
love,centralityofańectivityandsubjectivity,corporality,freedom
asself-determination,personalself,self-possession,etc.Tese
notionsallow,withallfairness,tocreateanopen,coordinated,
andsystematicsystemofthought,thatis,aphilosophicalcurrent
ortraditioninthetermsdefinedbyMacintyre.Andso,therefore,
thiscurrentcanbestudied,analyzedandvaluedbecauseithas
anidentifiablephilosophicalcore.Butthereismore.Tanksto
thisphilosophicalcoreitcanadvanceandprogresscreatingthe
personalismofthe21stcentury.
Itispreciselyinthisframeworkwheretheworkbyprof.Prze-
mysławZientkowskimustbeplaced.Prof.Zientkowski,taking
upthethoughtsoffourwell-chosenpersonalists,ońersanen-
richingreflectiononspousallove,adecisivequestiontoday.Tis
isnottheappropriateplacetomakeasummaryofwhatthese
philosopherspropose,sinceitwouldbeequivalenttosupplant-
ingtheauthor.ButIdowanttomakeabriefselectionofideasto
showtherichnessofthesereflectionsand,consequently,too,the
