Simultaneously,wealsosetourselvesacommunicationtargettobuildupan
eventrecognitionandreachtargetaudiencenotonlywiththeuseoftraditional
butmainlynewmedia,mostlyInternet.
ThebroadideaofthefirstInternationalWeek‘InternetCommunication
Management’developedintothreeintermingling,yetstillseparateevents:
1.InternationalAcademicCoursestargetedtobothPolishandinternational
studentsfromallfourfacultiesoftheUniversityofEconomicsinKatowice,
thatis:Economics,FinanceandInsurance,InformaticsandCommunication
aswellasManagement.
Studentsfromallthefacultieshadauniquepossibilitytotakeadvantage
oftheinternationaleducation,aswellastoparticipateincoursesdeliveredby
thevisitingprofessorsfromtwelveuniversitiesallovertheworld(including
overseas).Forparticipatingin15academichourscourse,thestudentscouldscore
3ECTSpoints.
ThetopicswererelatedtothegeneralideaofInternetCommunication
Managementandintendedforstudentswithavarietyofspecializationsfromall
thefaculties.
Forinternationallecturersitwasachancetoteachstudentsinanothercul-
turalenvironmentaswellasnetworkingwithcolleaguesfromdifferentcountries
andcontinents.Forstudents,exceptofgaininganewspecializedknowledge,it
wasanoccasiontogetfamiliarwithnewteachingmethodsandlearningstyles.
AsalltheclasseswereconductedinEnglishstudentswerealsogivenapossibil-
itytoimprovetheirforeignlanguageandsoftinterculturalskillsinthecontextof
acoursespecific.
Thepurposeofthisparthasbeen,viateachingandfollowingcourses,to
promotetheideaofinternationalizationandteachersandstudentsmobilityin
ouracademiccommunity,aswellastodrawattentiontoarapidlydeveloping
streamconnectedwithnewmedia.
