Conclusions

Thisstudyhasexaminedthetransformationsexperiencedbytheentrepre-

neurofTurkeyintheirprocessofdevelopment.Thisexperienceisimportant

becauseitisthoughtofahighlyrepresentativeonefortheotherdeveloping

countries.Thestudystrovetoillustratehow,ateverystage,theentrepreneur

usedhisorhertimewithinandoutsideofworkinghours.Wehaveseenthatin

theearlyperiod,theentrepreneurspentmostofhis/hertimedirectlyinvolvedin

theproductionprocess;inthesecondperiodhe/shemostlysoughttoformcon-

nectionswithpeopleingovernmentinhopesofreceivingsupport;andthatinthe

thirdperiod,effortwasspentinformingpersonalrelationshipswithotherentre-

preneurswiththegoalofidentifyingtrustworthypartners,bothforeignandlocal.

Theseresultstellusthefollowing:thattraditionalapproachestotheentre-

preneurinclassiceconomicsgenerallyemphasizetheabilityofentrepreneursto

solveproblemsaroundproductionandmarketing.Thecharacteristicssoughtin

candidateentrepreneursarethusdefinedasthoserespondingtothisobjective,

andinthiswayareuniversalized.Thisapproachisnotentirelywrongsinceone

wayoranother,aswehaveseen,intheearlystagesoftheircareer,entrepreneurs

areobligedtospendmostoftheirtimeontheshopflooruntiltheyhaveestab-

lishedaroutineintheirproductionandmarketingoperations.Itisatthesecondand

thirdstagesthatmorehumanqualitiesandaverydifferentsortoftimemanagement

comeintothepicture.If“entrepreneurialism”istodevelopintoameaningfulsub-

branchwithinthesciencesofbusinessandeconomics,thetheoreticalandpractical

pedagogicalmaterialwillneedtoincludetheresultsofconcreteexperiencethat

businessmencandidatesfeeltheneedofatboththeselaterstages.
