thattheso-calledface-valuetheoryofpropositionalattitudesentencesisfrequent-
lyendorsedwithoutevenquestioningtheplausibilityofitstenets.Therelevant
theoryassumesthatpropositionalattitudepredicatesthatoccurinpropositional
attitudesentencesdesignaterelations(RP),thatthat-clausesaresingularterms

thatshowsthatReferentialismispreferabletothealternatives.However,itturns
outthatsuchdataisnotreadilyavailable.Instead,itistheclassicalRussellianand
Fregeantheoriesthatcaneasilyaccountfortherelevantdata.
