andheaders.Noextantblocksortheir
impressionspermitareconstructionof
thelayoutofstonesthatlinedtheedgesof
courseI.
CourseIIispreservedcompletely
onlyinasmallarea3mlongatthebase
ofthejetty.Tecasingonbothsideswas
constructedofgroupAblocksinstretcher
bond,thefillofgroupAstretchersand
groupBheaders,ineachrowtwoAblocks
andoneBblock.Telayoutcanbeillus-
tratedasfollows:A:BAA:A,A:AAB:Ain
recurrentmode,althoughfartheronthe
courseislessclearduetosevereerosionand
theabovepatternisnolongerdiscernible.
GroupBblocksareeithermorerandom
orcompletelyabsent,replacedherewith
Ablocksasheaders.Nosignificantfrag-
mentsofthecasingareextant,butthe
layoutwasmostlikelythesameasatthe
base,assuggestedbysinglestonesandby
thedimensionsofgapswherethecasingis
missing.Treestonessituatedatadistance
of5m,46mand49mfromthebaseof
thejettyeachhaveasemicirculargroove
8cmindiameterlocatedapproximately
30-40cmfromtheedgeoftheblock.
CourseIIIisexposedinmanyplaces
duetoerosion.TecasingisofAblocks,
whilethefillismadeupoflooselyarranged
Cstonesmixedwithsand.Inthemiddle
ofthejetty,thisarrangementchangesto
singleAblocksseparatinggroupsofseveral
Bblocks.Tisarrangementappearson
bothsidesofthejetty,butonthewestern
sidetheAblocksarepreservedfragmen-
tarily.TeAblocksonthewesternsideof
thejettyarealsolargerthanontheeastern
side.
CourseIV,likecourseIII,wasfilled
withamixofCstonesandsand,butthe
casingdileredinstructure,beingmade
ofBblockslaidindividuallyorinpairs,as
