PREFACE
Atpresent,animportantphenomenonwhichhasappearedbothinsidetheenter-
prisesandintheirenvironmentisthegrowinginterestinthesocialaspectsof
management.Thismonographcontainsfivechaptersconcerningdifferentissuesof
managementtheoryandpractice.Althoughtheycoverdifferentfieldsofmanage-
ment,theyarealsorelatedtoeachotherbecauseoftheirfocusonthesocialaspects
ofmanagement,andalsoontheagileenterprise.
ThefirstchapterdealswiththeCorporateSocialResponsibility(CRS)ofthe
agileenterprisestowardstheiremployees.BoththeissueofCorporateSocialRe-
sponsibilityandtheconceptofagileenterprisearebrieflypresented,howeverthe
essenceofthechapterconcernshumanresourcemanagementinagileorganization
inrelationtoCRSrequirements.
Thesecondchaptercoverstheproblemsofmanagingagilityofenterprise.It
presentsalsotheinterestingstudyoncomponentsofagileenterpriselikebright-
ness,flexibility,intelligenceandshrewdnessandwhatkindofrelationshipsexist
amongthem.Oneofthesubchapterdescribestheconcepthowtheagilitycompo-
nentscanbemeasured.Thechapterendswithinterestingassumptionsconcerning
enterpriseagilityincludedinfourhypothesiswhichformsabasisforseparated
researchproblemsonaconceptuallevel.
Thethirdchapterpresentsacomprehensivestudyrelatedtotheresearchonthe
structureoftheinternalorganizationalidentity.Thefirsttwosubchaptersdescribes
someliteraturestudiesoforganizationalidentityandhowtheidentitycanbe
shapedtakingintoaccounttheelements,factorsandmanagementofthisconcept.
Next,theresearchresultsoftheinternalcorporateidentitystructurearepresented.
TheresearchwerecarriedoutinaoneofthebiggesttechnicaluniversitiesinPo-
landandcoveredadministrativestaffandlecturers,aswell.Theresearchgives
evidenceoftheoriesaboutwhatarethesimilaritiesandevenconvergencebetween
factorsofshapingbothenterpriseanduniversityinternalidentity.
Inchapterfourtheissuesofshapingthepersonalfunctionofmodernenterprise
inconditionsofaknowledge-basedeconomyarediscussed.Therearealsointerest-
ingquestionsinvestigatedinrelationtothetypicalfeaturesofaknowledge-based
economy,aswellastheknowledgecapitalandthehumanresources,asspecific
competenciesoforganizationswhicharenecessaryforachievingcompetitivead-
vantage.
Chapterfiveisdevotedtotheissuesofenterprisecooperation.Thefirstpartof
thischapterincludessomeliteraturereviewexplainingprinciplesofthecoopera-
