ceneevolutionofvalleysinthecatchmentareaoftheVistulaandtheOder,
theshareofbeaversintheevolutionofthefloodplainhasnotbeennoted
sofar.EnvironmentalchangeswhichoccurredinrivervalleysintheLate
GlacialPeriodandinHolocenewereassociatedwithclimatechangeand
increasedanthropopressure.Significantfactorsthatafectedthefeaturesof
thenetworkofvalleysinthelowlandareasituatedwithinthereachofthe
lastglaciationalsoincludedthedead-icemeltingprocessesintheLateGla-
cialPeriodandinearlyHolocene.
FossiltracesofthepresenceofbeaversinthevalleysofPolishrivers
werenotedverylate.In2009,D.AbłamowiczandZ.Śnieszko,basedon
lithologicalandzooarchaeologicalconditionssupportedbyradiocarbon
dating,includingwoodwithtracesofbeavercuts,suggestedthatinthe
