ﬁrstsixmonths.Asaresult,EUpoliticsmaybecomeevenlesscleartoEU

citizens,asitwillbeevenmoredifﬁcultforthemtoidentifytheagendaof

mainstreampartiesandrelatetothem.Moreimportantly,radicalrightand

populistpartiesmayhaveanincreasinginﬂuenceinsomeMemberStates.

Theyareable,inseveralcountries,toshapeorevenredeﬁnetheagenda

andinﬂuencethecompetition,evenimpactingoncentre-leftparties.18David

Cameronannouncedtheorganisationofareferendum,callingformajor

reformsoftheEUandatougherimmigrationpolicy,whileFrançoisHollande

arguedaftertheEuropeanelectionsthattheEUneedstobereformed,and

itspowerscaledback.Theserecentexamplesshowhowthesuccessof

radicalrightandpopulistpartiescanpushmainstreampoliticalpartiesto

takeharderpositionsonissuessuchastheEU,reformofthewelfarestate

andimmigration,inthehopeofwinningbacksomevoters.

ThisIssueofThePolishQuarterlyofInternationalAffairs

veryinterestingarticles,alltacklingtheissueoftheriseofrightwing

EuroscepticismacrossEuropeoneyearaftertheirsuccessattheEPelections.
