ABStRACt:Thearticlepresentsthepsychologyofhealthasacomponentofamultidimen-
sionalsystemoftheknowledgeaboutahumanbeing.Multidimensionalityoftheverysys-
temsuggestscontactandpermeationofdifferenttheoreticalandpracticalcontextsconsti-
tutinganimportantcontributiontounderstandinghealthandbehavioursconnectedwith
health.Theverycontextsderivefromperspectivesandtheoreticalparadigmsfromnotonly
psychology,butalso“borderline”disciplines.Importantcontextsresultfromobservations
ofdemographicandcivilizationalprocesses,relatedtochangesofatechnologicalandcul-
turalnatureinthecontemporaryworld,alsofromtransformationshappeninginman’snatu-
ralenvironment,e.g.evokedbyclimatechanges.Thearticleoutlinesboththeoreticaland
practicalcontextsofempiricalanalysesinthepsychologyofhealth.Theauthorspecifically
concentratesontheanalysisoftheroleofabiopsychosocialmodelasameta-perspective
fortheanalysesunderinvestigation.Thepracticalcontextconstitutestheissueofawidely-
understoodqualityoflife.Inreferencetoborderlineareasofthepsychologyofhealth,next
totraditionalpointswithsuchsciencesasmedicine,sociologyandpedagogy,thearticle
pointstotheneedofpayingattentiontoformal-organizationalandeconomiccontextsof
healthbehavioursandmedicalcareand,thus,relationsofthepsychologyofhealthwiththe
issueofpublichealthontheonehand,and,thepsychologyoforganizationandmanagement,
aswellaseconomicpsychologyontheother.Whatwasconsideredtobeparticularlyim-
portantinthelattercasewaspayingattentiontoconsumerbehaviourshavingclearhealthy
referencesbecauseofaprogressivecommercializationofnotonlymedicalservices,butalso
healthassuch,aswellasblurtheborderbetweentheroleofhealthandbeautystandards,
andsocialeffectiveness.
