thetwentiethanniversaryoftheintroduction,inOctober1987,ofacademic
Japanesestudiesasaresearchprogramaswellaseducationalcurriculum(five-year
MAandfour-yearPhDcourses)atAdamMickiewiczUniversityinPoznań.The
presentvolume(9(16)),inturn,initsentiretycelebratesthetwentiethanniversary
oftheintroduction,inOctober1988),atAdamMickiewiczofasimilarprogram
andcurriculuminChinesestudies.Thebookthusaims,amongothers,alsoata
presentationofthe–stillshort–historyofuniversity-levelsinologicalresearchand
educationinthesecondeverinPolandacademiccenterofferingChinese,and
actuallyFarEasternstudies,itsperhapsstillmeagerbutworthpropagating
achievements,mainexploratoryinterests,peoplewhohavetheircontributioninthe
organization,development,butaboveallsurvivalofthewholeproject.
Theanniversariesmentionedcoincidewiththecelebrationoftheseventieth
birthdayofProfessorJerzyBańczerowski,whowasdecisiveincallinginto
existenceoftheFarEasternstudiesatAdamMickiewiczbecomingtheiractual
founder.Hence,theeditorialboardofthejournalsincerelydedicatesthepresent
volumetotheIubilatusinacknowledgementofhisinvaluablemeritsinrelationto
allofusinthesinologicalstaffandtoeachofusindividuallywithcordialmost
wishesofallthebest.Admultosannoset...adastra(sititur).
Badnewsalso,unfortunately,arrived.Withthisvolumeweexpressourdeep
sorrowfollowingthesadmessageonthepassingawayofourgreatfriendandmuch
greatersinologistandmongolist,ethnographerandhistorian,andmuseologist
AleksandrMikhailovichReshetov(1932-2009)ofStPetersburg.Weknowthat
personslikehimareirreplaceable,thereforeitissodifficulttoacceptsuchaloss
(sedmorsenimianuavitae–perhaps).
