appearancescanbedangerouslymisleading.
1.Theamountandkindsoffoodthatpeoplebuyandconsumethesedays

Consider,forinstance,thatabout25percentofallthecaloriesweaveragemodern
peopleconsumecomefromaddedsugar

safelycrossoutone-fourthofourdietasapotentialsourceofvitaminsandminerals.

providepeoplewiththenecessaryelements.

saladoilsaswellasoilsaddedtobakedgoods.Suchfatswhichcontainonlyminimum
amountofvitaminsmayconstituteanother15to30percentofdailycalories.
4.Avarietyofoilsandfatsaddedtofoodproductsmakeasubstantialand
healthycomponentaswellasarequiredsourceofcalorie.
Ironically,thesamefoodtechnologythathasgivenustheopportunitytoeatlikekings
hasalsomadeitpossibleforustowastetwo-thirdsofourdailydietsonfoodthatcould
notkeepamousealive.Still,mostofusknowthatvitaminsandmineralsplayan
increasinglyimportantroleinhowwefeelandperform.
5.Amajorpartoffoodproductsthatpeopleconsumethesedaysdonot
representareliablesourceofanutritiousdiet.
