easily.Expectingadvertisementstobeinformativeisasignofgreatermaturity
ofPolishconsumers.ItisworthmentioningatthispointthatGerman
advertisementsareamongthemostinformativeones,asGermansexpectcom-
mercialstoinformandconsult.
AnevaluationofshoppingbehavioursofPolesrequiresinformation
ofchangesinincomeandcostsoflivinginPolishhouseholds.Thesechanges
observedinthelasttwodecades,thatis,sincethebeginningofthesystem
transformation,proveasystematicincreaseinthecostofliving,asinflation
indexexceedstheincreaseofincomesinthebusinesssector.Inordertomeet
theirneeds,householdshavetotakeoutloanstoanswerthisdemand,banks
offeraveryattractiverangeofconsumercredits,mortgageandotherkinds
ofloans,e.g.forthepurchaseofsecurities.DebtofPolishhouseholdsisgradu-
allyincreasing,in2007exceeding250millionPLN.Demandforpropertyloan,
especiallymortgage,hasincreasedmost.Alsotheincreasedrateofconsumer
credits,whichletpeoplemeettheireverydayneedsandfeelanimprovementin
theirlivingstandard,isratherhigh.However,thelevelofdebtinPoland,
accountingfor23%ofGDP,islowerthaninWesternEuropeancountries,
whereaveragedebtaccountsfor40-60%(Stasiak,2008).
TheprocessofconvergencebetweenCentralandEasternEuropeancoun-
triesandWesternEurope,measuredwiththelevelofGDPperheadshowsthe
distancethesecountriesyethavetocover.LatviaandLithuaniaarefurther
aheadofPoland,wheretherateofGDPincreaseislower.Polandhasalsogot
oneofthehighestratesoflongtermunemployment,whichisanimportant
factorincaseofmarketbehavioursofPolishconsumers.Consequently,
theprobabilityofemploymentmigrationremainshigh.
Itispossiblenowtoaskaquestionabouttheinfluenceofwesternmarkets
uponadoptingnewbehaviourpatternsbyPoles,notonlyinthearea
ofemployment,butalsoinotherareasofconsumerneeds.Poleseasilyadapt
towesternemploymentstandards,areevenrecognisedfortheirdiligence
andhighmotivation.Thereisaclearconnectionbetweenthismotivation,
amountandqualityofworkandthesalary.Increasingfinancialclaimstowards
Polishemployersisanindirectconsequenceoftheabove.
Intheevaluationofconsumerbehaviours,comparisonsinthemarket
ofservicesconnectedwithleisuretime,likeculture,entertainment,recreation
andtourism,aresignificant.
