Thereisalsoamarkedincreaseofself-relianceandstriveforsuccess,factors

thatgainimportanceinthecourseofequalisingthecivilizationgap.Other

positivetendenciesincludeopenness,friendlinessandhonesty.Waningofcom-

plexesisattestedbyPoles’self-perception:theyviewthemselvesnearlyasedu-

cated,culturalandambitiousastheaveragerepresentativesofthematureWest-

erneconomies.Thesetrendsareaccompaniedbystrongidentificationwithown

cultureandnation.

PositivetransformationsofthePoles’imageresultfrominterplayofmarket

economyconditionsandfeatureswiththeEUintegrationprocesses.Polesare

awareofbenefitsofintegrationbothforthePolisheconomyandthenation’s

securityandpositionontheglobalscale.Inparticular,theypointtothebenefits

forfarmersandagriculture,aswellasEUemploymentpossibilities.Theymore

oftenperceivethefinancialbenefitsresultingfromtheinflowofEUfunds,

especiallyinrelationtomunicipalinvestmentsandthoseinvolvedincon-

structionandmodernisationofroadinfrastructure.Theyalsoperceivebenefits

forcompaniesrelatedtotheEUsupportofentrepreneurshipandopenaccess

totheEUmarket(Table2).
