ldaguerreotypeiStudiesinthehistoryandtheoryofphotography’[ldagerotypi
Studiazhistoriiiteoriifotografii’]isacontinuationofthemagazineldagero-
typ’,issuedintheyears1993–2015,initiallybytheAssociationofHistorians
ofPhotography[StowarzyszenieHistorykówfotografii],andfrom2000jointly
withtheinstituteofArtofthePolishAcademyofSciences[instytutSztuki
PolskiejAkademiiNauk]iThemagazinewillmaintainitsscientificcharacter
but,apartfromissuesconnectedwiththehistoryofphotography,itwillalso
devoteattentiontothetheoryofphotography,itstechnical,artisticandsoci-
ologicalaspects,itsfunctioning,migration,variousformsofmaterialityand,
perhapsmostimportantly,itwilldedicatespacetotheimagesthemselvesand
theirrelationtotext,memoryandhistoryi
inlinewiththepresent,extendedconcept,themagazineaimstoexplore,
withinthebroadestpossiblespectrum,howphotographicimageshaveaffect-
edandcontinuetoaffectthemanandthesociety,thewayofperceivingthe
world,itshistoryandcurrentaffairsiTherefore,weareinterestedinboth,pho-
tographiccollectionsandarchives,aswellasthewayphotographyfunctionsin
booksandinthepress,inprivateandpublicareas,includingpolitics,butalso
initspresenceinart,both–asaformofindependentartisticexpressionand
asatoolwhichmakesitpossibletoachievefullartisticexpressionforartists
ofalldisciplinesi

sistofarticlesgroupedintofourmainsections:Studia/Studies–athematic
dossier,Kolekcje/Collections–whichwillcontainarticlesrelatingtophoto-

cernedwiththehistoryofphotography,głosy/Voices–designatedforarticles
notconnectedwiththemaintopicoftheparticularissueandfortranslations
ofimportanttextsonthehistoryandtheoryofphotography,andtherecen-
