withtheautochthonousinhabitantsoftheHlučinareadistrictandfocuseson
changesinthenationalidentityformationamonggenerationsoftheHlučinpeo-
ple.Duringthreecenturies,theinhabitantsoftheHlučinareawereexposed
toethno-nationalparadox.Teyfacedtheoverlayofnationalprojectsthatcre-
atedchangeablesituationsandsimilarsocialreality,wherethesocialcategories
ofunlikenesswereintensivelyformed.Teideologyofnationalisminthe19th
centuryformedthedestinyoflocalinhabitants.Whiletheethnicidentitiesena-
bledacompatibilitywithCzechnationalismandtheafliationtothesubstantial
Czechtribe,thenationalidentitieskepttheorientationtoGermancultureand
thoughtduringthe20thcentury.Today,intheperiodofdeconstructionofna-
tionalism,theseidentitiesdonotplaysuchanimportantroleastheydidinthe
past.

pointsouttheuniquenessoftheSilesianregionofHlučinandidentifiesthe
changinglifesituationsofitsinhabitantsasperceivedbythemselves.Tetext

toryandananalysisofnon-standardizedinterviewswiththeregion’snativein-
habitants.Teanalysisisbasedonthechangesinfourtopicareaswhichform
thenotionoflifesituations:theuniquenessoftheregionanditsinhabitants,
workinglife,familylifeandpubliclife.Mostofthechangeswerecausedbygen-
eralmodernizationandcivilizationtrendsinmodernsocieties.Tedisruption
ofgenerationalcontinuityasaconsequenceofthepost-SecondWorldWartrau-
maisaspecificcauselimitedtoHlučinregion.Althoughtheregionislosingits
uniqueness,itisstillworthstudyingasitcherishesvaluesandlifestylesthathave
completelyvanishedelsewhere.
Teproposedtopicsshowthepossibleviewpointsfromwhichwecanob-
serveandcomparetheeventsinthetwosocieties.Tereaderhastheoppor-
tunitytobecomefamiliarwithdiferentviewsofsociologistsonsimilartopics
andobservethechangingshapeofbothcontemporarysocieties.Itmayprove
